Nature has always provided powerful solutions to environmental challenges—from flooding to extreme heat and drought. We know that nature-based solutions, rooted in community input and leadership, are key to addressing these growing threats. And one of the most effective tools in our toolkit has been standing tall all along: urban trees.
Increasingly hotter summers, more intense storms, and increased air pollution have a real impact on our neighborhoods. These challenges aren’t on the horizon—they’re already here. That’s why we must invest now in the programs, stewards, and infrastructure that build resilience to a changing climate. Because strong, thriving communities start with deep roots.

Why Trees?

Urban trees are powerful allies in the fight against climate threats. They cool overheated neighborhoods, manage stormwater to prevent flooding, conserve water during droughts, and filter air pollution—improving public health and quality of life.

But trees can’t do their magic alone.

They need care, maintenance, and long-term community stewardship to survive, thrive, and protect our neighborhoods. That’s why our work doesn’t stop at planting—we’re investing in the people, leaders, and programs that make neighborhoods greener, healthier, and ready to face climate challenges.
