The horrific attacks in Atlanta last week that claimed the lives of Soon Chung Park, Suncha Kim, Young Ae Yue, Hyun Jung Grant, Xiaojie Tan, Delaina Ashley Yaun, Daoyou Feng, and Paul Andre Michels cut deeply in a year that is already full of trauma. The rise in racial violence against our Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) neighbors is unacceptable. We join the nation in grieving for eight lives lost in Atlanta and all lives impacted by the nearly 4,000 hate crimes reported since the start of the pandemic.
At Groundwork, we believe that in moments like these, the voices of those most directly impacted should be at the center of the conversation.
