APHA 2018: Evaluating Impacts of Community Open Space Actions to Advance Health Equity

At this year’s American Public Health Association Annual Meeting, Kate O’Brien, Groundwork USA Senior Advisor, and Nicole Bracy, Harder+Company Community Research Senior Research Consultant, will present preliminary findings from a community-based participatory evaluation of greenspace projects piloted in five Groundwork Trusts in the summer of 2018. The evaluation was designed to clarify a conceptual framework for strengthening and understanding urban open space interventions, and to define the best practices in Groundwork Trusts’ work and approach, and the ways they impact community health. The goal of the evaluation was to understand how Groundwork’s cross-cutting strategy realizes outcomes that lead to more people thriving in healthy, just, and equitable communities.
